This WNYC interview was re-broadcast Labor Day, 2011 as one of the NPR affiliate's All-time Best programs with former Yankees great Bernie Williams. It offers an insightful and personal perspective into the preparation and mental discipline involved in sports and music.Williams a former American League MVP has made a successful transition from the world of professional sports to the highly competitive arena of becoming a professional musician and composer. Those interested in either pursuit may find striking paralles drawn by Williams' useful baseball analogies and connecting music, rhythm and sport to understanding the rigors of peak performance as essential elements for psychological and physical preparedness needed for optimal execution in both music and competitive sport.I highly recommend the listening experience for my many musician and sports enthusiast friends.
Cake Man Raven Enters Guiness World Book of Records
Cake Man Raven’s has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the “Largest Cake Sculpture”. Now, one week later, we have news that he has succeeded in breaking the new record with his red velvet cake honoring the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. This is the fraternity he joined during his college years at Brown University and wanted to show his pride and represent his brothers.
The 600 square foot cake is said to feed 15,000 people and required 1,500 pounds of sugar, 2,500 pounds of flour, 335 dozen eggs, 750 pounds of butter, 5,000 pounds of confectioners' sugar, 500 quarts of milk and 16 gallons of red food coloring to complete. The icing alone was brought in from four different states!
Big congratulations to Raven Patrick De'Sean Dennis 3rd aka Cake Man Raven for his successful attempt to hold a world record. Courtesy KISS F.M 98.7 NY NY
